About Hosea
Of
all the books contained in God’s Word, the Holy Bible, the Book of Hosea is
unique in the way it demonstrates the love of God towards His people. The life
of the prophet Hosea was both a living illustration to inspire and teach us, as
well as an example for us to follow.
Hosea,
a prophet of God, was married to Gomer, his wife, who
was unfaithful to him. In fact she fell so low as to become first a prostitute
then a slave on the auction block. Even though she had betrayed and abandoned
him and the children, God told Hosea to love and redeem her in the same way God
loves and redeems His people.
Jesus
showed the same compassion and unconditional love to the fallen when He refused
to allow the self righteous to stone the woman caught in adultery. His
instruction to her was to stop sinning after having forgiven her.
